Without
the work of the Lord in her life, she would have not found hope in a life that seemed to be meaningless and useless. A forty-seven year old woman who lives in Lupon, Davao Oriental, Virgie remains seated at the door step of their house since she cannot walk by herself. She gestures her hands to greet visitors who came from Operation Blessing. She has confidence and a good command of herself. She has had polio since she was nine months old. Her mom takes care of her and her younger brother who is deaf, mute, and has Down syndrome.
Despite her disability, she manages to make an average of PhP500.00 ($ 12) per month from making flower patches, which are worth fifty (50) centavos per patch. The supplier of materials brings her handmade products to shopping malls not just in Davao Oriental but also in Davao City.
Aside from this, she mentioned thather passion is really cooking. She used to cook banana cue and sell it at the wet market area. She still cooks for her family, does laundry, and goes to Alliance church with her family.
She has already experienced using a wheelchair before, but it has gotten worn out after many years of use. With her new wheelchair, she can now travel from her house to the market and sell her choice of delicacy.
