Three-year-old Khoebe [pronounced as Kobi] is a playful and friendly small boy who lives with his Lola Fely in Jose Panganiban, Camarines Norte.

At first look, Khoebe is just a normal kid. But Khoebe is suffering from malnutrition, and to make things more complicated, at a young age, he was diagnosed with Hirschprung Disease, causing him to undergo 2 major operations – colostomy and removal of the large intestine.

Hirschprung disease affects the large intestine of newborns, babies, and toddlers. The condition prevents bowel movements to pass through intestines due to missing nerve cells in the lower part of the colon (kidshealth.org).

Khoebe’s mother works in abroad to help in their daily finances in the province and most of all for the needed expenses of the boy’s operation and medication.

When Operation Blessing came to Camarines Norte in October 2017, Lola Fely did not hesitate to enroll Khoebe in the Bless-A-Child Program where he was fed with milk each day. The boy’s condition makes him intake only soft food like milk or fiber.

Through the help of BAC Program and the local coordinators, Lola Fely was also able to attend training on child protection, health education, food preparation, and values formation.

A new set of powdered milk was provided for Khoebe as part of the program.

With all these, Khoebe was able to gain weight and appetite. From being a 3rd-degree malnourished kid weighing only 10kgs, he is now normal and is more playful, which is one less thing to worry about for his guardians.

Lola Fely is very much grateful for the help that they have received. Her only prayer is that God would completely heal Khoebe and that He will provide all their needs.
