This year, Ruth, 21, graduated with a degree in Education from Tacloban City. She is one of our 34 Back-to-School (BTS) Scholars this year.
Ruth, a Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) survivor, needed to stop schooling to help support her family. Her father became jobless since his livelihood was washed out by the typhoon. Her sister’s income is only enough for their daily needs. Despite the tragedy, Ruth still believed that they will have better lives one day. Inspire Change Now

Through your help to the Back-to-School Project, we were able to reach out to Ruth and to her family. They were also provided a disaster resilient house in our Community of Hope (COH) in Tacloban, where they are now staying comfortably and without any fear of calamity. To help sustain their livelihood, Operation Blessing provided a cycle rickshaw (pedicab) to his father. Read Full Story of Ruth Gadoa’s Journey to Graduation
