“I have never been to a dentist because we cannot afford it. My toothache is causing me a headache every day. Thank you for giving me free dental services!” Rhea said in vernacular with tears in her eyes.
Rhea Balenario, a 12-year-old, grade 7 student, expresses her deepest gratitude to CBN Asia’s humanitarian arm, Operation Blessing Foundation Philippines (OB), for giving her free dental services, which is a 1st for her, last August 27 in the remote community of Barangay Dian – Ay, Escalante City.
Rhea lives an hour from the medical mission site where her little brothers with her father cultivate and harvest sugar cane.
When Rhea heard that Operation Blessing will visit their far-flung barangay to conduct a medical mission, she immediately ran and lined up at the registration booth for a dental check-up.
Rhea started working in the sugarcane farms at age 7. Despite her fragile and small body, she wakes up every day at 4 am to help her father in the field before going to school.
From earning P150 per day as a child, she helps her father for extra income to survive their every day living. Because of this, they cannot pay for dental care needs.
Rhea’s bright smile mirrors many others’ in Barangay Dian who had never been to a dentist but we’re blessed to receive many services through this dental mission. From cleaning to cavity treatment and tooth extraction. You made it possible for them to smile comfortably and confidently again.
Help us reach out and prevent dental problems to more children living in the far-flung places. You can help bring God’s message of hope and love to more and more individuals and families today!
