Merly Mujar and her family have been staying at an evacuation center since the Mayon volcanic eruptions started. They left their farm and livestock in Brgy. Kirangay, Camalig when alert level 3 was raised in the area.
In over a week, the people of Albay have been exposed to ash-filled air. Volcanic activity happens every 4-6 hours and the ash is accumulating. Breathing in ash can be detrimental to the lungs and prolonged exposure to it can lead to disease. This is why we at Operation Blessing made distributing dust masks a top priority. Merly, her family, and the rest of the evacuees in Camalig are now protected from hazardous elements.
There are still plenty of areas that need to be reached. We are adopting an evacuation center in Camalig – Bariw National High School – where we will set up a medical station and distribute relief packs.
Let’s continue to pray for Albay! Let’s claim the Lord’s provision in our relief efforts and for His protection for the entire province.
We are still accepting cash donations. If you would like to help out, kindly go to http://www.staging2.obphil.com/home/give-through-credit-card/ or contact us at +632 477-7802 to 08 to learn more about Disaster Response Mayon.
