Gary Valenciano, together with the Shining Light Foundation, partnered with Operation Blessing Foundation Philippines, Inc. in an outreach program in his hometown in Camalig, Albay on November 30, 2018.

The dancer-singer and his wife, Angeli Valenciano, mingled with the people, particularly the children, at Camalig Elementary School. Gary also gave a mini-concert to the delight of the people present.

“It’s amazing when you see the networking of doctors and the volunteers coming together and doing what they do in very impactful ways. And you see it also in the faces of the patients…and they step out with relief…those things get to me, those things move me,” Valenciano said.

While visiting the medical area, Gary chanced upon a girl who was needing a treatment for her wound on her head.

Operation Blessing Philippines provided free medical check-ups, dental and optical consultations, as well as free wheelchairs and medicines. School supplies were also given to the children courtesy of the Shining Light Foundation.

Gary Valenciano also gave out school supplies to the children.

The children also had a blast playing games, eating their snacks, and watching the free screening of Superbook, CBN Asia’s children’s animated series. They were also delighted by the surprise appearance of Superbook’s lovable character, Gizmo.

Partnership

Operation Blessing has been in partnership with Shining Light Foundation for more than 20 years now in projects like the Disaster Response, Children’s and Medical Missions.

“When you talk about Operation Blessing you’re talking about an organization that has been doing this for years and they would not be around for that long if they are not doing things the right way,” Gary Valenciano continued, “how OB was the first in some of the places that they would go to – disaster that happened, there’s no help at all, people are delirious, they don’t know what’s next. Those are the things that confirm in me that this is the organization that is worth being a part of.”

Operation Blessing Foundation Philippines has been conducting medical missions all over the country since 1996. Established to bring hope and blessing to people in need regardless of race, culture, or belief, Operation Blessing is the humanitarian arm of CBN Asia. Its programs include healthcare, children, disaster response, water and sanitation.
