We have seen how our medical frontliners work sacrificially to serve our nation against COVID-19 crisis – and we help make efforts to protect them! Operation Blessing responded amid strict quarantine guidelines and health risks.
To date, our team braved and visited fifteen hospitals in Metro Manila to distribute Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) and preventive care kits. This will surely help our frontliners as they fight against the spread of the virus.
Dr. Sheila Aranas, OB Programs Director, gave a glimpse of what was it like to be on the ground. “It was challenging to do the distribution because of the quarantine guidelines and the known risks of being exposed, but personally, the worry of being exposed was superseded by joy in seeing that the beneficiaries were grateful and encouraged,” she said.
As a medical practitioner herself, Dr. Sheila saw the ever-increasing need to support her fellow frontliners. The doctor added that she, too, was blessed by the courageous hearts of those who fulfill their duties during these critical times.
“The health care frontliners didn’t know that I was also encouraged and blessed by their selfless commitment to serve beyond their duties! The nurses and doctors said they appreciated the PPEs but more [importantly], the prayers and encouragement,” she expressed.
In the call to serve the people in need, OB team also gave preventive kits to the relatives of the patients waiting outside the hospital. A daughter, whose mother belongs to a Person Under Monitoring and a father who’s undertaking dialysis testified that the Bible verse postcard attached to the paper bag of preventive kits and prayers encouraged her to put her hope in God.
OB team didn’t leave the hospital without uttering prayers and words of encouragement. One of our volunteers who joined our mission happily shared her humanitarian experience and appreciated the incorporation of prayer, “what I love about OB is that they just don’t fulfill a physical need, but they make sure to really incorporate prayer in their mission. My heart is full and yearning to help some more because of the evident Christ-like joy of the OB staff. It’s so nice to see our doctors and nurses smiling behind their masks when the donations were given to them and hearing their “amen” after praying for them,” says Bea Tesoro, Founder CEO of Certified Positive.
