ANTIPOLO CITY – CBN Asia’s humanitarian arm, Operation Blessing (OB), provided wheelchairs to physically challenged individuals from different barangays on August 24, 2018. This is in association with the Free Wheelchair Mission, Indoplas, local government unit (LGU), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and church partners.
For the first time, the mass distribution of wheelchairs was reformed to home distribution. OB visited the recipients’ homes to give them their custom-fit wheelchairs, ensuring comfort and safety to the families.
They also received a special tea package, a Bible, and a booklet guide to using the wheelchair after being briefed about proper handling, safety precautions, and health exercises. OB also gathered to pray for the recipients’ healing, wholeness, and provisions for the family.
The beneficiaries were thankful beyond words because they can finally experience mobility and comfort, easy transport to doctor appointments, and do activities with their loved ones outside their homes.
“I am very thankful for this blessing. As soon as I heard the news, I told my family about it. My daughter can now sit properly. I can stroll with her outside our home and she can stay beside me while I do chores. She and her siblings can spend more time together. I pray that the Lord will bless and strengthen OB more as you do His work,” Evangeline Santos, mother of the 17-year-old recipient named Kaila who was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy at a very young age, gratefully said in vernacular.
“I am so thankful for the wheelchair because it’s going help me move around the house, assist my daughter, and provide comfort when we’re going to the hospital,” 60-year-old Lorie Domingo, who is suffering from Arthritis, said in Filipino.
OB’s Wheelchair Distribution Project aims to give the gift of mobility to the physically challenged, who felt valued because someone made a way to reach out to them.
