Operation Blessing Foundation Philippines continued its 3rd day of relief operations to provide the needs of around 400 families affected by the Taal Volcano eruption in Ibaan, Batangas on January 15.

See here for updates on OB’s 2nd day of disaster relief operations for Taal Volcano evacuees.

Since the sudden eruption last January 12, Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said that residents from high-risk areas were forced to flee from their homes and move to evacuation centers in nearby towns in fear for a possible hazardous explosive eruption may occur within hours to days.

OB, as the first responders to the area, did not stop helping since then.

They braved around the area to hand hygiene kits along with sleeping mats, blankets, and Bibles to displaced families temporarily living in evacuation sites.

One of the beneficiaries is the family of Marilyn Tantan Reyes, 29 years old, from Agoncillo, Batangas who shared, “we have nowhere to go back to. We have lost our home and jobs because of the Taal explosion but thank God for people like you who are willing to lend a helping hand.”

“Thank you, Operation Blessing, for the relief packs because it will help us store more supplies for the coming days. You’re the reason why we have not lost hope,” she said.

56-year-old Analiza De Villa from Lemery, Batangas recounted, “When we were forced to leave our home, we brought nothing but few clothes. That’s why we cannot help but cry when people like you help us in this unexpected disastrous event.

“You’re a big blessing, Operation Blessing! The relief packs, especially the sleeping mats and blankets, will help us sleep comfortably. May God bless you and I pray that you will never stop helping those who are in need,” she expressed with thankfulness.

Agoncillo and Lemery were among the municipalities in Batangas that were severely affected and are currently on total lockdown because of Taal Volcano’s continued intense unrest.

Amidst this traumatic circumstance, hope arose and strength was regained as the team also fed our kababayans with a delicious meal. They were also moved to tears by the overwhelming presence of God and received the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ.

Thank you for standing shoulder to shoulder with us. Your prayers and donations made this possible.
