According to PAGASA’s severe weather bulletin released at 11am today, Typhoon “LANDO” (international name Koppu), which has passed through the provinces of Aurora, Nueva Vizcaya, Nueva Ecija, Benguet, La Union, and Ilocos Sur, maintains its strength as it now moves toward the provinces of Ilocos Norte, Abra, and Apayao, with maximum sustained winds of 120kph near the center and gustiness of up to 150kph. As of 3pm today, the Category 4 typhoon was estimated at 40km North Northwest of Vigan.
Operation Blessing (OB) is now deploying disaster assessment and response teams to do an ocular survey of the hard to reach province of Aurora to see the damage the typhoon has caused and what possible help OB can give, specifically in the isolated municipalities of Casiguran, Dilasag and Dinalungan, as well as Dinapigue in Isabela. OB will also address immediate needs in these areas by conducting feeding operations and setting up mobile water stations in evacuation sites, as well as distributing relief goods.
