The home of the San Gabriel’s family was blessed with seven children, including twins named Sarah and Hannah. But everything changed when a tragedy tested their faith.
It was the first month of 2016 when their youngest sibling named Kakay was struck by lymphoblastic leukemia at the age of 6. Their father’s income was not enough to provide their daily needs while prioritizing the medical assistance of Kakay. Their situation resulted in immense financial credit thus, affected the twins’ chance to continue their studies in college.

Their family was eager to sacrifice everything to save the young fighter, but Kakay’s body was so fragile to take all the medical procedures. Both twins wept when they remember the days of Kakay’s hardship.
“It was March 1, 2018, when Kakay died,” tearful Sarah narrated.
Though in pain, their hopes remain high. Kakay’s lost led their family to really get close to the Lord especially their father. San Gabriel’s twins also received the good news about the scholarship program through Operation Blessing. “Masaya po talaga kami na pareho kaming nakuhang scholar, akala po kasi namin isa lang makukuha sa amin. Malaking tulong ito po sa magulang namin na hindi na po nila iintindihin ang baon namin,” they joyfully said.
(“We’re so happy that we were both chosen as scholars. It was a big help to our parents that they will not have to think of ways to provide for our allowance.” they joyfully said.)

Aside from taking Bachelor of Science in Social Work at Colegio De San Gabriel Arcangel, they also assist as Sunday School teachers. Hannah shared “bukod po sa pag-aaral, naging bahagi rin po ang Operation Blessing sa aming spiritual growth dahil sa daily devotion at fellowship.”

In the future, the twins desire to be a blessing to other people just like how they’re being blessed. They are seeing themselves as professionals in their chosen fields and as proudly beneficiaries of Operation Blessing’s Back-to-School program.
