PASIG CITY – Operation Blessing Foundation Philippines, Inc. (OB), CBN Asia’s humanitarian arm, expressed its thanks to volunteers for their time and commitment through the Volunteers Connect event on February 23, 2019. It was a day dedicated to honor people and organizations who partnered and supported OB’s mission.

Both the existing and aspiring volunteers came to meet, bond, and share stories with OB staff and other volunteers.

Funfair games, a photo wall, and raffles made the event more exciting. A history corner featured OB’s journey through the years while a merchandise booth showcased shirts and livelihood products from OB beneficiaries that the volunteers can purchase and take home.

Volunteers responded well during and after the event. “I went alone but I never felt lonely because I met lovely people. I am looking forward to be part of Operation Blessing’s activities in the coming days,” blurbed Cid Maldecir as she reposted OB’s post in Facebook.

During the activity, CBN Asia EVP-COO John Tan expressed the need to work alongside each other after he shared OB’s accomplishments. In his speech, Sir John said: “I implore you to give sacrificially of your time. Let’s make a difference together.”

The event went on as the Volunteer of the Year 2018 Service Award was given to Mr. Jowie Sitjar for his unwavering commitment and passion to Operation Blessing. He has been an active volunteer since 2013 during OB’s disaster relief efforts when Typhoon Haiyan hit Tacloban City.

The activity concluded with a special performance from the saxophonist, Jaybee Javelosa, and the donation giving of Saxophone Fast Track to Operation Blessing.

The event would not be successful in extending God’s blessing to our many kababayans without volunteers and people who supported the mission of inspiring change and transforming lives.

As what CBN Asia President Peter Kairuz said, “Thanking you, [volunteers], is not enough.”
