“It is blocking my vision. I struggle with it every day.”

These were Herson’s words as he described the daily battle he faced with a growing mole near his left eye. At his age, he had chosen to focus on household chores, but his condition made even simple tasks difficult to manage.

“I really want to have it removed, but I don’t have the money. The checkup alone costs at least ₱5,000 (around $88). I don’t have that. The little I have, I spend on food. So, I endured it until it grew larger like this.”

For seven long years, Henson endured his condition, with prayer as his only solace.

“Night and day, I pray that this mole will get smaller,” he shared, hoping for a miracle.

His prayers were finally answered when Operation Blessing arrived in his community for a medical mission. Wasting no time, Herson seized the opportunity and sought help from the team.

“I waited seven years for this to be resolved, and now I am thankful because you came to our town, bringing a medical mission to remove this hindrance near my eye,” Henson said, his voice filled with gratitude.

The Operation Blessing team quickly stepped into action. A volunteer doctor removed the mole, ending Herson’s years of discomfort.

“Yes, it’s a compound mole. He was born with it, and it started to grow. It was affecting his eyesight. Usually, it’s not life-threatening, but it impacts self-esteem and daily activities. If left untreated, it could grow larger, leading to a bigger scar if removed later on. It was necessary to address it now,” the doctor explained.

Herson wasn’t the only one blessed that day. Operation Blessing extended its medical mission to the residents of Brgy. Muladbucad, Pequeno, Albay, offering free checkups, mole removals, dental extractions, and free medicines, among other services.

“Now that the mole has been removed from my eye, I am so glad. I thank the Lord for sending the doctor to operate on it. I am grateful that my longtime problem has finally been resolved. Thank you very much, Operation Blessing. God bless you all,” Herson said, his heart brimming with joy.

Seven years of waiting, praying, and enduring ended with a moment of relief and gratitude—all thanks to the generosity and compassion of our partners.
