In the aftermath of Typhoon Yolanda, Ronnie Abarra and his family faced a bleak future with no home and no means to rebuild their lives.

Ronnie Abarra, 29 years old, vividly remembers the devastation that Typhoon Yolanda brought to his hometown, Leyte. The typhoon left their community in ruins, leaving many families homeless and without a source of income. Ronnie’s family was one of those who lost everything.

However, little did he know that nine years later, the same typhoon that brought them so much pain and loss would turn out to be a blessing in disguise. Ronnie and his family became beneficiaries of Operation Blessing’s resettlement project, the Community of Hope.

Through the project, Ronnie was able to obtain a new home for his family, a place where they could finally feel safe and secure. But more than just a new home, the project also helped Ronnie start his own business in aluminum and glass installation.

“With the assistance of Operation Blessing, I was able to buy the materials needed to start my business and provide for my family. I am grateful for the opportunity to not only have a new home but also the chance to become an entrepreneur and create a sustainable livelihood for my family,” he said.

Now, Ronnie and his family are thriving in their new home and community. He was earning enough to support his family, and he has even bought a sidecar for his motorcycle.

“We are grateful for all the blessings that came our way after such a difficult time in our lives. We will never forget this wonderful gift you have given us,” Ronnie said.

All the other families in the Community of Hope also expressed their gratitude for the new opportunities given by Operation Blessing, and they continue to look forward to a brighter future ahead.
