A famous Japanese proverb says, “fall down seven times, stand up eight.” In the case of Nila Calesa, 62, the concept of it is very true. Their house in Sitio Cancunay, Brgy. Tinangnan, Tubigon, Bohol was destroyed twice; first, during the 7.2 Bohol earthquake in 2013. The damage was so severe that it took them more than a year to recover. Then in December 2021, life hit them hard again when their house was destroyed in the wake of super typhoon Odette.
But as the proverb implies, no matter how many times people get knocked down, they need to get up again. Never give up and keep hoping; this is the spirit that we saw in Nila. “We thank the Lord for the aid given to us and for good health for my children who are still young. Thank God for His grace,” she gratefully uttered.
Nila’s family is one of the recipients of our food bag assistance, consisting of supplies consumable for a week. It is a very big help for them especially that they are a family of 10 and in a situation like this, food was very much in need.
The joy and hope that we are bringing is all because of your support. These messages gladly said by Nila are for you, “Thank you very much, we are happy, thank you to those who served as instruments to help OB get here.”
When we see people fall, may we be the reason for them to get up. Help our kababayans affected by disasters like Nila by donating today at www.operationblessing.ph/give. For inquiries, contact us at 09399215543 or 09189067753.
