When our Mobile Clinic came to Quezon City, we found a rare case of dermatitis in 27-year-old Zeilane who complained that the skin on her feet becomes very itchy whenever she wears slippers. It has disturbed her sleep and daily routines. She cannot stand walking for a long time, and thus she can’t do basic errands anymore like going to the market.

“Sometimes, when it’s terribly itchy, I just lie down in bed. I can’t do anything,” she said.

She has tried self-medication using over the counter medicine in the form of creams and ointments, but none of these worked.

When Operation Blessing Mobile Clinic came to their area, she didn’t hesitate to avail herself of the free checkup. Our doctor found hers to be a case of rubber dermatitis, also called latex dermatitis where the skin reacts with certain substances found in rubber.

With this, Zeilane is advised not to wear rubber slippers again anymore. She was also given allergy medicine and ointment. Each of the almost 200 beneficiaries who were served with counseling, medical, and dental care, including Zeilane, also received a Bible courtesy of Philippine Bible Society.

Zeilane is thankful for the free checkup and medicines. But more than that, she’s glad that Operation Blessing helps many people through their medical missions. She was even inspired to give.

“I am thankful that Operation Blessing came here to do good works like these. Thank God for people like you for coming all the way to help others. Hope you’ll be able to help others and be a blessing to more people!” she gratefully said.
