During our mobile medical clinics in remote communities, our volunteer licensed doctors give their all in every consultation. Yet when it comes to diagnosing complex conditions, we often need more than just a stethoscope. We’ve witnessed firsthand the growing need for diagnostic tools like blood tests, laboratory procedures, and ultrasounds to properly assess our patients’ health.
That’s why we’re excited to share a significant upgrade to our mission efforts: Operation Blessing International has donated a brand-new Butterfly iQ Ultrasound machine! This powerful tool allows us to see what the eyes cannot—from monitoring heartbeats and checking bladder health to confirming pregnancies and detecting potential complications. It’s a game-changer for providing accurate and timely diagnoses in the field.
One of the first beneficiaries of this advancement is Angela, a 34-year-old pregnant Aeta woman from Nabuclod, Floridablanca, Pampanga—a remote community with a large concentration of indigenous people. Angela came to us with deep concern: this was her fourth pregnancy, and it came as a complete surprise after having undergone tubal ligation.
For indigenous families like Angela’s, the cost of transportation and medical services represents an overwhelming burden. Her husband works occasional construction jobs earning around ₱400 per day—barely enough to support their daily needs as a family with three children, soon to be four. And those jobs aren’t guaranteed every day.
“I was really worried,” Angela shared. “Who wouldn’t be, after getting pregnant despite ligation? I feared the baby might have complications. But when I saw the ultrasound, I saw that my baby is strong and healthy. It gave me such peace of mind. Thank you so much for the free ultrasound!”
Angela’s relief was palpable as she watched her baby’s image appear on the screen—a moment of reassurance that would have been impossible without this technology reaching her remote community.
Thanks to partners like Butterfly iQ and supporters like you, we’re taking meaningful steps toward making high-quality healthcare accessible to every Filipino, no matter how remote their community.
