A picture of a strong-willed mother, confident as she wears her new eyewear is hard to ignore.
After putting on the new eyeglasses she received through Operation Blessing’s Medical Brigade in Brgy. Harrison, Paluan, Occidental Mindoro, 46-year-old mother and roasted cashew nut maker Maribeth Delin had much to say about her new look.
“It’s so much clearer now when I’m reading,” she said. “Everything in my children’s modules will be easier to read with this pair of eyeglasses.”
Maribeth has four children, aged 14, 11, 9, and 5. All of them are studying and enrolled in modular classes. Her husband provides for their family by working in a construction, but sometimes struggle with the instability of his job.
To Maribeth, the mission is an answered prayer. “Thank you so much for the free medical and optical check-up. I can now finally help my children with their modules without straining my eyes!” she gratefully said, adding that the vitamins for her kids, the devotional from Our Daily Bread, and hygiene kit are a big help to them. One of her sons was also circumcised through the help of the army.
“It’s a true blessing,” Maribeth expressed. “The people are nice enough to give us decadent eyewear and provide these medical services. We really need them.”
More than 600 families, including those who belong to the Mangyan tribe, were served in our Medical Brigade in Occidental Mindoro in partnership with 76th Infantry Battalion, PA AFP and the local government unit of Paluan.
