“I want to break the cliché of studying hard to become successful. Rather, I wanted to fulfill my dreams of finishing my studies to bring back to God the honor for all He has done to me, through my parents and of course, Operation Blessing.” – Mary Grace Amaro, Back-To-School (BTS) Scholar
Mary Grace, 22, is the sixth among her seven siblings. She is currently taking up Elementary Education at Norzagaray College in Bulacan. Aside from the scholarship grant by Operation Blessing’s BTS project, Mary Grace gets support from his unmarried older brother who is now the only breadwinner of their family.
A sweet and loving daughter, Mary Grace gets emotional whenever asked about her parents. “My mother is asthmatic and easily gets flu. She loves doing household works but her body is now weak. Same with my father who is also a senior citizen,” she said, trying to hold her tears back.
Most of the time that Mary Grace spent now outside their home is a church-related activity.
“Ever since I became a scholar, I learned to see life as a very serious journey that requires great faith and perseverance,” shared Mary Grace. But not wanting to miss out on the good in that journey, she chooses to be positive about life and depend on God no matter the situation is.
“I want to acknowledge God and the people working behind the scenes to support us. Of course, without them, it’s impossible for me to be where I am right now. To the Operation Blessing staff and donors, thank you very much. It was so kind and selfless of you to help us achieve our dreams and guide us along the way. I want to dedicate to you, to my parents, and ultimately to God all that He would allow me to accomplish in this life.”
