First, it has been said that the typhoon will not have its landfall in the country. Yesterday, most areas were flooded — making it hard for Filipinos in the metro and nearby communities to go to work and do their weekday routine because some national roads were abruptly not passable anymore. Typhoon Mario, which was aggravated by monsoon rains, created vast damages in few hours.

While Mario is wreaking havoc in metropolis and nearby provinces, possible Mayon Volcano eruption, which alert level is now raised to level 3, is also being watched out. The rain, according to PAGASA “may trigger flashfloods and landslides.” OB will also send its mobile water station to provide clean drinking water to people in evacuation sites.

Last night, OB’s disaster response team immediately went to one of the evacuations sites in Caloocan, where thousands of residents were forcibly evacuated, to bring hot meals and mats and blankets to give them comfort through the night, in a crowded and cramped temporary shelters. Other teams are mobilizing people and volunteers to prepare for medical missions, continuous feeding, and relief distributions.
